A leading niche Information Technology and Operational Technology Cyber Security firm from the US reached out to us to support them in hiring their first ever team of on-shore Middle East specialists. Until then, the firm had gone with a fly-in, fly-out model where the US based specialists in
b) Technical and Engineering would travel to the Middle East on a need / business specific basis.
The extent of growth and client servicing experienced by the client in the region was enough to warrant the need for an on-shore team. Further, they realized that for them to grow exponentially from their current level in this region (where they envisaged a huge opportunity), they would need a team that was on the ground, nimble and close to the clients and market.
Our Search Strategy
We presented our strategy to three members of the leadership team in the US head office including the Director & Head of International Sales, Director & Head of HR and the Director & Head of Technical Services.
Our approach for the Regional Business Head position was a transnational geographic target to include the entire Middle East region as well as Europe; to identify a techno-commercial professional with some sales exposure.
We included Europe due to its proximity to the ME region and the fact that several Europe based firms had their specialists based in Europe but focused on the ME region. For the Regional Sales and Regional Technical positions, our geographic target was the entire Middle East region.
A pre-requisite for all three positions was an exposure to the UAE and KSA government clients especially in the Energy and Defense verticals.
Over the course of 2 years (2018 and 2019), we facilitated the creation of a quality 3 member team which has already contributed significantly to the firm’s growth and has even been successful in garnering business in Asia.
Case Study 2
A privately held pan-African Telecommunications, Technology and Renewable Energy Group that is focused on digitally connecting customers through operations and investments in 28 markets – mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa. Over the years, the Group has converged products and services spanning mobile telephony, fibre infrastructure, media broadcasting, financial services (Fintech), e-commerce, Internet of Things (IoT), and renewable energy.
Our Search Strategy
Through our contact in Dubai, we successfully created a partnership with the office in South Africa (Head Quarters) to aid in their expansion in Sub Sahara Africa.
We presented our head hunting strategy to three members of the HR leadership team that was traveling to Dubai to identify suitable partners with emphasis on project based search experience and specialized expertise.
We set up a specialized team of senior consultants and researchers to ensure the swift fulfillment of various positions across multiple geographies. We placed candidates ranging from the senior most positions – General Manager – right to the Sales team working on the field.
The challenge for each region was to provide talent from the organization’s competition (to ensure a seamless transition for both candidate and the firm) while ensuring 100% nationalization for each region we worked in Sub Sahara. Since time was of the essence, we worked very closely with the selected candidates, completed their reference checks and other formalities for the client. To go the extra mile, we helped the candidates complete their on-boarding processes and documents within the tight timelines, while walking the candidates through each of their resignation process.
Over the course of 2 years (2017 and 2018), we facilitated the creation of quality member teams, across Sub Sahara, who were instrumental in the growth of the firm in the region. Over the course of the assignment we were able to successfully place 15 candidates with the client.
